Not really something linked to math, still I would like to recommend this game because it greatly sharpens reasoning and use of logic.
Part of "The New York Times games", which presents mainly word games, CONNECTIONS is a daily challenge that will test your logic, pattern recognition, and creative thinking.
The aim is simple: 16 words that must be arranged into 4 groups of 4. You don't know what is the logic behind every group, so you must stretch your creativity and reiterate your reasoning to spot the right patterns, all without a single equation!
The 4 groups, or categories, have a different difficulty level identified by a colour. Yellow is the simplest, passing through green and blue to end up to purple, the most difficult.
The only helps you will get: one word for each category (just press the icon with the light bulb to see them), and the indication that you have guessed 3 out of 4 words when you submit an attempt (the response in this case will be "One Away!"). But beware! - you only have 4 attempts to guess them all.
Undoubtedly the most fascinating aspects of the game is that .... it's frustrating!
Its difficulty varies every day and some days you go around in circles without getting nowhere and you just give up in defeat; some other days you guess the first category and from there you happily succeed; some other days you start in the same triumphant way and you end up in disaster. Nothing better to test and improve your resilience, patience and motivation. All aspects which will be useful in your path to perfect mathematics as well!
